When I was saved as a child, I did not know all there was to know about being a Christian, but God directed my path as I walked with Him through life (Colossians 2:6). I grew up in a home, in South Africa, where we went to church every Sunday. My dad read the Bible to me at night and we always prayed together. I did my best to please my parents and teachers and was a good child. It wasn't until I was 12 years old, that I realized I needed a personal relationship with Jesus. During a youth group meeting, the leader explained that I needed to repent my sins and trust in Jesus to be saved. I realized I was a sinner and I accepted Christ as my savior. After I repented, I began to understand what I was missing in my life.
This month I will be sharing my testimony about how I became to know God and believe in Him. I grew up in a relaxed Catholic family and rarely attended church unless it was on Christmas or Easter. I was what people refer to as a “Christer”, a Christmas and Easter church attender. I did not have a relationship with God as a Catholic because I was often confused and disengaged by the Catholic practices
